Jellybeans

Jellybeans

A Poem by Kleio13

You're a carrier
for charcoal personals

I prefer to pack lightly even one sin holds heavy
   eyelids

And I see a suicidal king with a pulley

of earthly eddies
 and limbs
   of drowned
cinderellas,

        slowly, but surely

I become the same old
story, a girl gone brimstone mad

Mouth full of obsidian
  lather

No life is more bipolar
than a pack of f*****g jellybeans.

i love it... i love it because the imagery and metaphor are so strong ... i love it for the down and dirty ... i love it most because it reads with such fluidity and grit that at the end i think i know what you are saying but i know i don't ... i recall reading about an interview done with Bob Dillon about his songs and poetry and when asked what it meant he said he didn't know ..he just wrote it like that ... the power in that is that it wakes people up ... makes us think .. and we come away with our own something special .. for me i see the pimp on the streets, someone who refuses to carry that load, unseen forces that pull the strings and make us all dance ... the lack of and then the indulgence of sugar coated, many colored beans is nothing less than bipolar ... i am grasping at straws but these are the things your poem triggers in me ... it's marvelous Kleio ..

Awesome. !!!
Each generation seems to have their own way of expressing this particular vignette. Some are simple and literal while others, this one in particular, become an exercise in graceful esotericism. I doubt that many readers are going to get the gist of this one, Kleio. Hell, I doubt that I really got it. But, I've lived on the streets too.. and it's that context that makes this, my interpretation, plausible; at least to me. Either way, you know you've written something a tad out of the ordinary when it is so simple that it forces numerous rewind/play cycles to even begin to try and wrap the mind around it. Yea ... f*****g jellybeans.

The poem could be about a character that is trying to say that it has become a victim of a mate that does not have a future to offer and that the character in the poem fell for charm when received candies as gifts.

The interpretation could be that some persons on earth illusion great expectations with little details.
