Cold Sun

Cold Sun

A Poem by TheNightShift

A sun that radiates no heat,
shines brightly in the North.
From Summers joys a country cheats,
while it travels back and forth.

Give me instead Winters darkness,
free from sunshine’s bright effect.
I find more beauty in cold starkness,
than a warm summer I can’t expect.

I've just read all of your poems (at least, all the ones I could read here) and I think this one is my favorite.

I think this is really lovely. I myself am a fan of winter, so I appreciate the line "give me instead winters darkness". Ironically, between Iceland and Greenland, the former country is the colder one, yes? I don't think I've ever associated any visual images of Iceland with the coldness portrayed here. (It's one of my favorite countries, too.) This whole poem intrigues me.

I like it. :) Thanks for sharing.

So beautiful...you depicted a great thought of "being joyful in what we have".

Nice work. Since you live in Iceland, I can see what you mean in this poem. Nice work.
