PrologueA Chapter by KarliPrologue
Dear Journal, This is the first time in God knows how long that I've written to you purely from my heart. For the past year, I've been writing everything from sports pieces to travel pieces to entries about my high school's gossip. It feels so wonderful to finally be able to curl up by the fireplace with my Jasmine tea and write without care. I was selected to go on the writing trip around Asia and the South Pacific! I'll be spending my summer surfing with Australians in the Great Barrier Reef and learning various forms of meditation from the Japanese! This journal will be so full of adventures, I could publish them! Of course, I'll miss my family. By some wonderful form of luck (sarcasm intended), my older brother, Jonah, also happens to be quite the poet. Somehow, he applied, and got accepted, as well. It won't be all bad, I know. Jonah really is a good brother, and he'll be the one person I know when I'm on a plane full of strangers. I leave tomorrow morning, bright and early. We're taking a flight out of San Francisco, so we have to fly there first. Tomorrow will be the first of my many adventures. I'll be traveling to our first destination, and I forget exactly where that is. New Zealand? Hawaii? Tahiti? Oh, who cares? I've packed everything I'll need. I've got three different purple or red swimsuits, every book in my desk drawer (I could seriously start a library), tons of extra journals, a million and three different packs of gum, sweats, and three jumbo boxes of tea (Green or Jasmine, makes no difference to me) and a box of Splenda. Believe me, I'm all set for this wonderful adventure I'm about to embark on. I really should get to bed soon. I have to be at the airport at six forty-five. Goodnight, my dear journal. The boring me is being put to rest, and the true Kaylee White will come to life tomorrow. © 2011 KarliReviews
