Slip Away

Slip Away

A Poem by Karli

You've arrived at my home,

your arms awaiting me.

Our lives will soon change.

Summer's approaching,

our high school days are concluding.

Don't let this change us,

don't let us Slip Away.

Our hearts intermingle,

whispering promises of loyalty.

We lie there,

silent.

Everything has already been said.

I love you,

you love me.

Our day will come,

when we won't be apart.

We can remain in each others' embrace,

forever and ever.

You know we're right,

I know it too.

Don't tell me you don't,

I know you do.

Fear creeps in my mind,

haunting me.

Will we last?

I need you.

Assure me we'll be okay.

Never have I dreamt,

the day would come,

where you wouldn't be by my side.

I'll always be here,

So will you.

Don't let our love

Slip Away.

Poignant words, a teenaged ode to romance.
If you feel it in your heart no one can take that
away from you. Remember this, you'll have your
whole life ahead of you and times will change
for better or worse ...A very sweet write!
