Red

Red

A Poem by Kittywhiskers

Red were the roses you gave me that summer.
Red with lust, love and passion.

Red was the color of our cheeks that winter.
Red with the warmth of blood,
rushing through our veins.

Red is the color of the hatred,
the fury,
and the contempt we hold for each other

Red

Is it not the stereotypical color of love?

Yes

Red was the color of kissing in the frigid air.
The color of snuggling close on a cold winters day.

Red was the color that flashed across my face when you called me beautiful,
and yours, when I caught you staring.

Red was your favorite color,
you wore it often

Red was the color of our love,
and now, is the color of our hate.
