I DO Sleep to Dream

Dreams... you know you have funny dreams when you like somebody?

He was in my kitchen

Emerged to say hi

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"Umm, nothing...?" I reply.

 

 

He came up to me

Happily he smiles

I look into his eyes

My heart pounding all the while

 

He held me close in his arms

Why was he acting this way?

He doesn’t like me THIS much

This must be a dream

 

Then he pressed his lips to my forehead

I spaz a little.

Finally! An opportunity!

I kiss him back on the cheek

 

Our lips touch

I realize, I’m... stuck...

Stuck in this embrace

His warm embrace

 

 

Uh-oh, this better not escalate...

Don’t escalate--

NO-NO-NO DON'T--

I awake.

 

 

Darn it!

 

Yes

I had a dream about him 

Sadly, only in my dreams

Does he express his affection.

But I know somewhere inside...

 

He likes me back... just a little bit....

If he even DOES like me back....

Author's Note

I never thought I'd write a poem about that dream... It was a little embaressing to say the least *shiver* I hate being so obsessed about the guys I like... man, if it DID escalate, I think it would've turned into a sex dream...

I've never had a sex dream, and I hope I never will :S I swear, if I ever do have one, I'll shoot the person who was in it.... }:( *shiver shiver*

I don't understand why the first two stanzas rhymed and the rest of it didn't. I think it would have been better as just a freestyle poem.

I am struck by the words, "But I know somewhere inside...he likes me back", solace to the mind when the one you love is not yours. I do, as you, sleep to dream. There must always be hope!
