Grandmother SectionA Story by *^*my*beautiful*zelda*love*^*After the passing of a most valuable family member, the house would be cleared of her belongings. The only thing that caught my eye once I arriving at her once inhabited home was the things she kept strewn all over her kitchen. No, things weren't messy in the slightest, as Grandmother's OCD had to do with keeping the house in impeccable shape. Peeking into the empty kitchen, I stopped and stared at what poor Grandmother left behind before passing away from natural causes. There, laid neatly upon a royal-blue cloth-covered counter, were the items Grandmother used when baking one of her world-famous apple pies. A rainbow held in the form of many different types of apples was set within a shiny bowl at the center; her favorite wooden rolling pin lay motionless between the bowl and a freshly-made, soft pie crust inside its home: the metal pie tin. Les we forget, there was much more to the scene, as the Red Delicious, set beside the pie crust, overlooked the table and across to where the wooden, white-handled cutting board formed the base of a truly delightful stage for four apple slices to be placed upon. Two-by-two, the four apple slices were set beside each other-- the unique thing about it was: as the red apple slice sat quietly atop its Granny Smith slice for a seat, its twin-- the other red apple slice-- formed the perfect seat for Smith's twin-- the other green apple slice. Now, this is just too amusing for words. Sadly, Grandmother was unable to finish her apple pie; I'm sure it would have been the best pie she had ever made in years…. © 2008 *^*my*beautiful*zelda*love*^* |
