I Won't let Him Die

Love is part of the crap I've had to deal with during this very week

I feel as though I have died

I've let my well-being go to waste

There's so much on my mind

Lord, don't let me die like this

 

The world has thrown

An unavoidable curve-ball

Life will tear at my heart

Until nothing is left

 

This saddening experience

Has left me high and dry

Oh, what to do

Is there any way of saving you?

 

A mind is a terrible thing to waste

And so is your heart

If I don't tear it to pieces

You will

 

I won't let you die

Don't you dare go insane

Although I don't love you

I don't want you hurt

 

Sometimes I want to bite you

Or throw you off a cliff

Or even stab you in the arm

But don't get me wrong

 

I will never stab you in the heart

Don't let your dreams fall apart

I don't love you, but I don't hate you

I fear your infatuation as gone to your head

 

So, if I see one cut on your wrist

One scrape on your arm

I might just have to hurt you myself

But remember this one thing:

 

I will not let you die.

Author's Note

This poem is about this kid who likes me-- and admits it-- but just last night (the day before I wrote this) he was going to ask me out. He knows I like someone else, but is so infatuated with me that he doesn't even care. He wanted to ask me out, and if I said no, he'd... go home and cut himself. I was so scared for him-- he's such an innocent boy, how could he turn to the blade of a razor?

That's aweful! I don't think he's all that innocent if he's threatening to hurt himself if you don't do what he asks, sound more psycho or childishly bratty to me. A well written poem though--it's so difficult sometimes to do a good rhyming one!
