ClosedA Poem by Evelyn V JamesA sear of pain, balancing a ruby on needle point ready to fall down the rabbit hole.
I take it back.
Such a personal precious jewel, it must stay mine. The rabbit hole no longer looks inviting. The four walls and a door of an excuse for holding hands with padded walls and a soothing injection of "I love you" won't work.
In my mind, the ruby sits as if out of place. Many carry it in their chest, with the weight and ache of one thousand and something cracks pieced together with self-esteem and hope whereas some cannot but place it in their mind, rationalize and sear "CLOSED" into the barely beating facets. © 2008 Evelyn V James |
