The Jail

The Jail

A Story by Kitonic
"

Some of us describe prison as a way of keeping the insufferable scum out of society. So, I wonder what would happen if that scum were the last lifeline to continue humanity.

"
We praised it as if it were God. No, it was our God. We thanked it for keeping us safe. We showed it our love by keeping it clean of rust and and mending the worn out bars.
Why do we do this? The answer is all too simple. The world is not what it once was. No man could come up with a torture so sweet or a hell so bitter as this, child.
These prison cells, these bars, they protect us from all that lurks in the far unfamiliar reaches outside these cement walls. There are fools who wish to start anew in these new worlds, madmen who want to study the outside, and those who stay to worship and live.
You who were born to us, from us, must stay and live. Together we can make this holy temple of metal and cement our home. Please now, won't you stay?
