The Light

The Light

A Poem by Kissy
"

A girl who wants to walk into the light.

"
The Light
By Christina Wells

She walks in a shroud of darkness.
Stepping in pools of shadows,
not seeing, or hearing.
In this past, present, or future
she doesn't quite know.
Is this all a dream?
Can this all be real?

She clenches her fist;
frustrated, distraught,
what is this place?
It is teasing her thoughts.

Suddenly, she sees a light.
Gleefully she runs.
Only to see that it's only
an illusion,
a trick of the mind.
What is taunting her?
Is it someone her kind?

She falls to the ground,
wraps her arms around
her knees.
She screams and cries,
but noone hears her pleas.

The girl sleeps in her coma;
they might pull the plug.
Will she ever awaken?
The doctor just shrugs.

Five months have passed;
her body is weak.
It's so hard to see her
in this eternal sleep.

The girl hears a voice;
she raises her head;
"My darling I will not see
your death."
It's her mother's voice.
She jumps to her feet.

She see's the light ahead
once again.
She walks slowly this time.
Trying to muster her strength.
Would God really try to
go this great length?

She reaches out her hand
and walks toward the light.
The woman takes her Daughter's
hand, and prays for
her life.

Suddenly the girl opens
her eyes.
The mother can't believe
what is happening.
Her girl is alive!
