Music On Repeat

Music On Repeat

A Poem by Kirsty Woodward

her ghost of twenty two years

buried in the brick

the walls creak

heavy

the floor can smell

the fresh air

on its way

through the window

someone is going to open the window soon.

paper cuts

unloved books

meaningless f***s

air out the nightmares

don’t forget

or they’ll haunt you too.

music on repeat

music on repeat

she won’t see you again

but she’ll kiss you goodnight

and a piece of her heart

remains hidden in the wardrobe

the spiders have

packed their bags

the cobwebs will

disappear

from the corners

of the ceiling

someone is going to dust those cobwebs away soon

music on repeat.

We like our creepiness. Thank you thank you.
This is the first just poem I've read in this Cafe – It's a good start. I liked particularly the way the poem flowed. The lines in which I would judge as the best [In my opinon} are :
the spiders have
packed their bags
the cobwebs will
disappear

Thanks Christopher Patrick. Keep on reading. There's much to be discovered throughout this site.
Ha... whenever I read the repeated line 'music on repeat' I kept thinking of the Lion King and "The Circle of Life" song. Simba was a stupid moron of a lion cub; Timon and Pumbaa may have been unregistered sex offenders.

Good writing here though. "paper cuts....." that stanza in particular was terrific.
