Dear Prime Minister

Dear Prime Minister

A Poem by Kirsty Woodward

Prime Minister,

Can you hear?

Your smile is so sinister

But we do not fear!

How can you say,

“we’re all in this together”

When the poor are getting poorer

As you make the rich richer.

Prime Minister,

Are you listening?

How can you sleep at night?

Your compulsive lies & hypocrisy

Are an embarrassment to our country

& this is not democracy.

Prime Minister,

Enough is enough

Under your power

Our country, our home

Is in danger

& we do not support your agenda.

Prime Minister,

You can’t even look us in the eye

& tell us why.

Don’t you think its about time

You stepped down & resigned.

will do Kirsty! :)
I was mistaken, it wasn't anti-flag I meant to mention, but a much different band called Resident Genius. They only have one album of 6 or 7 songs. One is called "Dear Mr President". I smoke a lot of grass so I get confused quite easily.

hear that here....

Thanks Hans. I'll keep my eye out for it and give it a go.
I completely agree with the sentiment! Well done.
Can I just point out one or two slips -
first verse sixth line - should it read 'all in this together'
for me the use of the sign for 'and' grates a little
Well done though

Have you ever heard of a band called "Anti-Flag"?

If you haven't I do believe that you would like them.

(edit.... I'm too stupid to actually know what I'm talking about)

Great political commentary. This is happening in the U.S. as well. I guess you're not a fan of David Cameron.

Not a fan at all. Yet to find someone who is.

Thank you Pete.

Very Welcome.
A caustic appraisal of the sort of people that are the arbiters of our lives. Their failures are always another party's fault, however long ago they were "in power". Galling as it may be, the alternatives are more frightening. (but at least we are still able still write about it)

I do not have any idea about what is afoot in the UK, but this poem is ideal for all countries where a dagger is thrust towards the chest of democracy. a likable poem.

Corruption is everywhere eh. Thanks Vatsal.
This is very much true. We should get our real democracy in the core. Thank you for sharing.

What makes this message so haunting is that people in the US are saying the exact same thing. It must be a scourge of the so-called "free" world . . . well-expressed in your poem. I don't agree with blaming one person (the person in power) . . . I feel this is a much more complex problem that can be attributed to all those who make the laws & are beholden to the rich. But I still feel you've expressed your opinion well & without sounding angry -- rather matter-of-fact, which is refreshing.
