Cowards

Cowards

A Poem by Kirsty Woodward

Cowards.

There's plenty of them to go around

Just look up and down

They’re the ones

Who can’t say what they think

Without a drink

They’re the ones

That will spare your feelings

To avoid the bleeding.

They cause

Long term effects

Six months on and you’re still healing.

and these are the kind of friends we don't need....we need those who will tell us the truth, what we need to hear...and yet there are those who will appease in order not to upset us.

makes me think of my sister because my 96 year old father is living with her and her husband...and she is still afraid of him...afraid of doing certain things he really needs because he kicks up a fuss.

sad...

running away rather than being truthful will hurt so much in the long run...

There is something between the lines here, at least, I'm going to pretend there is anyway.

Made me chuckle a little, but in a sardonic way.

I'm not doing legit critiques anymore, so, this is the best I can do.

Cowards are everywhere and I like what you said about cowards that need a drink just to speak up. Usually, only nasty and hurtful things come out of a drunk coward but the scars remain and we try our hardest to erase it from our memory. Nice work :)
