The Giants Will Laugh

The Giants Will Laugh

A Poem by Kirsty Woodward

I’ll walk the earth

Step by step

I’ll take a piece of you with me

Each of you

Along the way.

I’ll walk the earth

Carefully pacing

With your hearts in my hand

Laughing.

Laughing.

As my feet touch the ground

The earth will shudder

i’ll walk the land.

The dirt between my toes

Is mine to own.

Sip your tea

Talk about the weather.

Don’t you see

You’re just like the rest of them

Talk about politics

Go to church on Sunday.

The dogs will bark

The leaves will fall

The girl will sing

The boy will do his thing

& you

Will keep searching for

What makes you feel alive.

This is awesome. I like this very much. It conveys so much feeling and thoughts. Reads well and has a great flow. I especially like

'i’ll walk the land.
The dirt between my toes
Is mine to own. '
