Afresh.

Afresh.

A Poem by Kiri J
"

A concept put forward by my poetry teacher...

"

 When I'm gone,

Please feed my cat.

Tell my teachers

I'm not coming back.

Return my books,

But don't pay my fines;

Tell them I've more than

Paid my price.

Get another to sit

At my desk.

One who looks nothing like me.

Start afresh.

When I'm gone,

Have a coffee each

Morning for me,

Remember I hated a

Lack of caffeine.

Say things like;

"She could've been more,

In time, she could've been

Beautiful."

Remember me

For what I was not and

I'll follow your thoughts

Until I'm forgotten.

loved the first stanza, as it flowed - iambic pentamater or something.sort of quite whismical. the second stanza i had a harder time following, as it seemed a little more disjointed - had line breaks and enjambement which threw me a little, but i love the execution.

You already are beautiful. No need to fix it if it's not broken.

This was a good write on that empty/beaten feeling. Just know that it comes and goes. Stick with yourself. You'll see how worth it you are, even to yourself.

Miss you.
