paths

paths

A Poem by Kira Lorraine Uman

The unintelligent decisions we made

Who can we blame? Ourselves?

We were afraid.

Afraid of what might have happened

If we didn’t go down the paths we did

And now we dwell

We dwell in the past

Wondering what would have happened

If we didn’t go down those paths

Would our friendship last?

We took our own paths

Diverting away from love

Growing apart

Something we didn’t want

From the start

My heart once belonged to you

But it won’t happen again

But what we will have is us being friends.
