Extinction's Wake

I haven't edited it at all. I'm working in sections, which are evident in the POV switches. I know my grammar is off and some of my word choice is weird, but the kind of feedback i'm looking for is problems with consistency, pace, plot, character development, and dialog. Mostly plot, as i'm coming up with it as I go and am basically letting it write it's self. Also, suspension of disbelief is a big component in this, as is the nature of the genre, so if there's anything that's you are even the least bit skeptical about, let me know. Thanks!

P.S: CORE or Core (couldn't make up my mind on the capitalization) is the government Entity controlled by an alliance of all human governments and includes input from the two alien races, Surians and Gorgonians.
