Destruction of life

Why is life always this way,
lots of people who have lost their way,
off the path of given life,
through the fields of everlasting plight.
Why cant they just follow the light,
to the garden of peace and life,
where there are no wars to be won,
or fights to be fought,
where life flows freely like the clouds in the sky,
and dreams come as true as
 the moonlight in the night.
Now look at us now,
we near destruction,
for life is near expiration,
and peace has left quietly
 like a bird in the night sky.
If only we knew this would happen some day,
we could have stopped
and looked at the fray,
but instead we fight wars that
don't need to be fought,
and take lives that had no
reason to be caught.
