Poetry is Therapy

Poetry is Therapy

A Poem by Jessi Pestana

It suddenly kicks in

I miss you

A feeling that I cannot escape

As if a kiss could compare to eternal fate

But still I wonder

Still I yearn for your tenderness

I remember how it felt to draw you close

And forget all that which means the most

If I could just breathe

Escape your memory for a single moment

I would remember how you provoked my insides

And found the pain where it resides

You are home to insecurity

At last mediocrity has found it's beast

And the beauty of it all rests beneath your heart

Succubi have withered and torn you apart

I pause and frown at your distress

I take my anti-anxiety pills

As if medication could sedate

The lonely demon your absence creates

I walk away from you in throbbing anguish

Towards the Light that will soon comfort me

The right choice doesn't always settle in the skin

But for once, I walk away from sin
