Why did I ever abandon my study of Latin? My bemoaning of study choices now over let's attend to the poem. I enjoyed the spiteful and biting nature of the piece, in the original and translation. Each word is bitter as the cud and spat out with such venom that I applaud. Bravo!
Ignorance of one's actions and the harm they create is cause for even greater damnation, than those who do so with malice of forethought. Ignorance implies that one did not care even in the first place to ponder if their action would harm; malicious thought at least acknowledges the harm the action will do but chooses to ignore it.
Those thoughts aside I enjoyed the piece immensely, might make me take up Latin again. I am one of those person's who has a smattering of a dozen languages but is master of only one, a fact I am most ashamed of. But I ramble again. I shall finish, as I should have begun, saying bravo!
Dude! I want to learn latin so bad, and now even worse XD I love the language and it's certain character, if only I knew what I was reading, thank you for the translation :) Awesome bitterness and abandonment in the poem. Really enjoyed it XD
can feel the frustration and bitterness of being hurt and the person oblivious of how they hurt you. either they implore your forgiveness or you get on with your life. excellent poem. i bet it sounds so much better in latin.
Beautiful - both the Latin and the translation. I can definitely relate. Forgiving those who wrong us is the ideal, but not always possible for us mortals - and not always deserved. Strong words, and very human emotion. Amazing poem.
Very strong feeling of hate and resentment in this poem. A person can only allow enough emotional abuse until something inside of them breaks, when their give a damns busted, I guess. Never the less nice freeverse poem. I like it.
I'm twenty-two years old and a musician at heart, but I took up writing five years ago. I'm hoping to get published somewhere, so I'm trying out this site.
