Walking Amongst the Dead

The Risen don't attack animals.
They aren't worth the effort.
The disease doesn't affect all of God's creatures.
Just the ones that sin.

My master has sent me to deliver a message
To the neighbors down the street.
It is strapped in saddlebags on my back.
They know it will reach it's target.

I reach the back door of the house
And pull the rope with my teeth,
As the dead surround me.
Then the doggy-door opens for me.

I'm let in and she gives me a bone,
But I know not to chew, for it has a message.
Then she sends me on my way home.
And I weave between the stumbling feet of
Those around me.

As I reach halfway home, the Sleepwalkers
They burst through her door,
I hear screams, gunfire, and voiceless moans.
Then all goes silent, and I head home.
