The Self

The Self

A Poem by KingJoseph

Time takes the blame for rusting
When it was in the nail's nature to do so.
And still, we continue to build houses upon them
They seal corners,
they allow us to build walls.

Time waits for no one
But how long have you stopped moving
With your own two feet
Like the house built on flawed nails
You build yourself imperfectly
For it was never stability that kept the self alive

We look on the outside
to understand whats inside
But we cannot change the nature of the nails
or the imperfection of our life
or time for taking its course
We can only change how we choose to see things
and perhaps that is what fills us.
