Black Son to Black MotherA Poem by Coby G.Knowledge Inspires New Greatness
No, it’s not her birthday..
And these lines won’t be recognized because of my wordplay. But it’s a message that must not wait. I know it’s a chance to take, Because my first time in this notebook, I shouldn’t have tried to describe a woman so great. It would take far too many similes, Cause I love you Like I love all of our memories.. Even though they weren’t all good It all worked out for us mentally. It brings me faith and ambition. Just because we’ve been down before, And even through the hardest times, you taught me; God’s love is forever more. So for you, I grind Yet still keeping my peace of mind, With a strong hope, Cause I know building a empire takes time. I was raised by a black queen. Who worked to provided everything. Even though her passion was music She worked night shifts, just so I can have a dream And for that reason alone, I had to express.. That I still love you mother, Even though I left the nest Your dreams will live through me Cause you’re forever in my art And my art is all I feel I want you to know, you’re forever in my heart. © 2015 Coby G. |
