Grandpa

A national celebration

turned into a life celebration.
in the silence of my thoughts
in the clarity of my tears
the love i had
the moments we shared
the words we spoke.
All a treasured memory
constantly reminding me of you

From the Father we came
So shall we return.
Through it all you lived
seeing it all.
yet you still felt like my age-mate
Young at heart but full of wisdom
A rare smile, but a welcome advice
in the silence of your heart in your neat hut
you governed and prayed for each of us
And I know you still do.

Today i pride in being your grandson
though sometimes I ache from your absence
i look up through the clouds, yonder to the skies
often seeing your face smiling down at me.
You uplift my burdens
you promise me a better tomorrow
you assure me of no more sorrow.
As you dance and wait for me with the angles
I just have one request
Ask God to never give up on me.
