I RememberA Poem by KimmieR1728Submitted for my first assessment in Creative Writing at university.I remember tearing the seam in my favourite pair of black jeans. I remember the sheer speed of the car pulling me further in to
the seat. I remember the colossal bridge, its toy train and the field
painted in oil behind it. I remember the skylights in the bedroom that only let me see the
clouds. I remember the sticky ice cream we shared, dripping over my
knuckles. I remember the colourful striped sheds, surrounded by lawn
chairs and card games. I remember the calm, cleansing air the waterfalls gave off as we
hiked upwards. I remember hurrying over the river in the dark, dimly lit by
orange streetlights. I remember the aftertaste of paprika on the back of my tongue. I remember the glow around the white cliffs as the boat cruised
along. © 2018 KimmieR1728 |
