MY LOVE

MY LOVE

A Poem by Kimiko Watson

I promised myself I would not cry,
But I could not bear to watch him die.
He was a gentleman full of pride,
Behind that pride he would hide.

He was recognized for his dignity, his productivity,
His determination was beyond creation,
But still I promise myself I would not cry
But I could not bear to watch this man die.

His life on earth was now complete
The hands of death were at his feet.
Survival was no more, death had bound him to the floor.
Yet still I promised myself I would not cry,
But I could not bear to watch a wonderful man die.

Out of frustration I weep, and I weep,
Even though I promised myself I would not cry,
Now I understand why,
Oh my Love I could not bear to watch you die.
