The Sweetest Fruit

The Sweetest Fruit

A Story by Kimberlee

Some people don't like brown bananas. They leave them on their counter for days, until they ripe with age and then throw them away. What they don't realize is that not only can they be used to make delicious bread, but the insides are flavorful by themselves as well. If only they peeled back the flesh, they would see a banana unharmed.
Sometimes I like to think of myself as a brown banana. People generally think I'm eccentric, and that I'm different from the rest of the yellow fruits. If only they peeled back my skin they would see who I really am. Of course, bananas typically make a delicious addition in the baking of bread, and I would not as cannibalism is frowned upon. And of course one usually bites into a banana, and you would not like the reaction I would give if you bit into me. But on the inside, the real me, I'm as sweet as any other fruit.

I just love this. The metaphor with a brown banana. The cannibalism part, was hilarious. This was definitely a treat to read and I just love bananas.
