He showed up one day. You’re not exactly sure which day, but it was years ago.

Your dad was arrested, your mom couldn’t support you, so off you went to your uncle’s place. That’s when he showed up, sometimes shortly after.

He never seemed to do anything. He’d just be there suddenly, and you’d never notice when he truly did show up. He would always crouch in the same position, oriented with his back to the left, head to the right. He would always look at you, the whole time he was there, every time.

He never said anything, touched anything, moved anything.

He just crouched.

There was one thing you noticed though, something you don’t know if it’s bad or not, even now. He always did, and still shows up when you’re angry or upset in some way. He’d never be there when you’re neutral, and certainly not when you’re happy.

He’d show up between 9:00 and 11:00 PM, and leave around 12:00 AM. Just like you never notice his arrival, you never notice his departure, only his absence.

You call him “window man”, and you’re not entirely sure what he is.

Your friends say he’s a demon with hostile intentions. He hasn’t hurt you yet, so you’re unsure about that idea. They tell you to be careful.

Recently you’ve felt his desire to come inside your room. You don’t know how to explain the feeling, but it’s as if he’s speaking without saying a word.

This feeling started after you had your first dream about him. In the dream, you awake with a start to find window man staring at you as usual through the glass. You stand and walk to the window and open it. He comes inside, standing for the first time in your memory. He’s incredibly tall. Then you wake up shivering on the floor and he’s above you in the window, staring down at you as you convulse.

For some reason, you really do want to open that window. You don’t know what he’ll do when you do, but you have a persistent urge to do so.

What does he want? What is his purpose? What do you have to do with whatever he’s up to?

You have no answers to these questions, no solutions.

In the end, all of your thoughts, all of your dreams...

They all end up

on him.
