About deep knowledge of one's desires

Knowledge is a funny thing
eyes alight with things not before seen

Is it better to be in the dark?
to not know the truth, so real, so stark

To hide away from the real
to close your eyes to what you feel?

Is it better to see the light?
open your eyes with newborn sight?

Open up and feel that desire
or better to ignore what you require?

Knowing so much of your soul
can rip you apart, leave a gaping hole

Should you run away and hide?
or open your eyes so very wide

Suffer the dark, embrace the light
Knowing is hard, yet so deeply right.
