Runner Up.A Poem by FireflyThe pace quickens, the Never ending race. She's so close, yet So far ahead. Be it by an inch or a mile, second is still second.
Power through, move forward. Accept second, second by Second, until the end. First place, is out of reach, it's Attempt, brings only pain.
Happiness, forever too distant. Ignorance brings closer. She falls behind, first is so teasingly within your grasp, your heart quickens.
Your breath deepens, Your eyes widen until That milestone of feeling Called happiness gets in Your way and holds you Back until the envy takes you.
She will be gone soon. Ahead, far ahead, far beyond you. on her pedestal, among the victors. You wish to be there, but do not have what it takes to deserve her place.
The idea of victory, of happiness, of peace. As this idea flows around you, like a sea of what might be. Your feet, almost along side.
You are so close, so Very close, but the distance is destroying you and will never become less than beyond you. It's all about the chase, never the finish line, you will not win. © 2013 FireflyFeatured Review
