Almost proud.

Almost proud.

A Poem by M.Kilani
"

Inspired by a poetry event that I went to. It was hard for poets in my country to present their works live, and even if they were allowed, no audience would attend. But today it was a success.

"

Right by the door, I was there

Rain had stopped and there was cold in the air

Unnoticed unknown and unseen

Untouched by the essence of the scene

I was there, amongst the crowd

Almost welcomed, almost proud

I have seen my vision done by others

Their acing truth their rhymed utters

Almost proud, yet amongst the audience

Not there under the spotlight

Not there to fight

Silence among their words, peaceful violence

Almost proud yet with touch of shame

Not that I desire that hour of fame

Not that I need their applause to my words

Even those without them, they can die upon swords

I wanted to join them, their pain and their rage

I was once as them, a scream upon a stage

And I asked for no praise, no sounds in that place

Words only words, no name, no face

I was there and their words I have heard

By the door I was smoking, of my cigarettes the third

And I have heard them fighting that political fraud

Felt more than welcome, felt almost proud .

catchy ending! it wraps up the poem and makes u know what the pride no matter what rages happen is about. idk why this sounds like it can be political and social.
