Unmarked grave ( a tribute to those who died for freedom)

Unmarked grave ( a tribute to those who died for freedom)

A Poem by M.Kilani
"

In a homicide the deceased it a victim, while in a massacre or a "war" the deceased is only a number!

"

It only takes one bullet to kill a man

It could kill a tyrant, or make a martyr

The tyrant dies and his rule is over

The martyr dies and revives a clan

Gives voice to the mime

Moves those political pawns

He claims nothing, yet the world he owns

But good men die before their time

For a cause, it’s an honor to die

Not because of one’s death

There is no honor in death

The honor lies in “why”

They say you can hear the bullet that kills

I heard those bullets, and the words they tell;

Rebel, revenge, riot and rage

Leaving a victim, causing a rampage

Draining words along with lives

Misery causing who survives

Killing souls under a tin roof

Along with ideas that are bullet proof

"Don’t dig me a grave

Don’t burry me

Don’t mark that cave

Make them all see

I’m dead, and free

Don’t call me a casualty

Don’t say my name

To hide your shame

No longer alive

No longer a slave

You count as you survive

An unmarked grave

Don’t call me a martyr

If you’d give me a number

What use for your words can do the dead

If another number you gave a friend"

Like yesterday ends today

With echo of screams fading away

Horrible silence following violence

And sounds of violins that never play

There is an investigation for every homicide, but when it comes to a massacre it's only a matter of a statistic.

Unmarked Grave
(Review for Change the World Competition). Great concept but I feel it became a narration as opposed to an experience. You crafted depth and genuine feeling with this difficult subject so it more than merits a place in this competition. The true worth of this work is the questions it asks the reader, especially love your concept “There is no honor in death The honor lies in “why”. I honestly enjoyed the style but think the blows could have been emotionally stronger but the concept and questions you raise pack one hell of a punch. Great work

This was simply amazing...I swear I can't find the right words for it because of how beautiful you write with so much truth and wisdom. I don't know much about dying, I've dream of it as a salvation when I go bipolar, but I fear it most of the time. Where will I go when I die? Will people remember me? But this poem has proved death as a tragedy and an eternity after that in remembering a hero who once was alive. Amazing poem my friend. Keep it up.

i am sorry to say not many here who cares for your shouts
for much less and silly events there were great concern
i am sorry for the different look people see what goes on in this
disturbed world..beautiful youths ,i may say give example for all the world
to see how tyranny and injustice must never pay or live long
no they are never dead in my view..i think their death is like poetry
sweet symphony to free the world of all its dirt ,i dont care
if i never see open ears to my plea..it shows people as how they really are
i ve sen them shout out and loud for very little silly things
but no for big events that will shake the world and shape it
into a different looks..and how lovely it will be ..when its finally free
i really enjoyed your writing ..its wonderful to see someone really cares
for events that make history today..
lovely write..

When live in a world where they do body counts for Soldiers. On the daily news. Young strong faces are shown. The count for the poor people in the cities and in the way of the gun are never maintain. Estimate of a death of poor woman and children who were killed with silence screams . Every life is precious. I look at my family. I pray for a day where all children can live to play and laugh. Not wait for death or hate to overcome them. Your poem told a powerful story. We need to hear a violin playing everywhere. Playing for the dream of peace.
