Does anger make a man ??

Does anger make a man ??

A Poem by M.Kilani

Done yet?

Finished lashing from every side?

Done making me feel less human that I am

Done making me feel less of a man

Or is there more?

Where are you going with all this?

When would it end?

A tear to descend

Is that what you expect?

Perhaps you are waiting for me to rage

From the silence a shout to emerge

Is it me you want to fight?

Are you sure it’s me you want to push

And you know that I can break your heart

Make you suffer everyday

Make you cry your heart out

Fill every second with dismay

But I won’t react

Not even with a single word

For I can blacken your world

But then again I won’t react

I’ll hold it in

My anger until I forget

I’ll take those words and hold my tongue

Before I say something we’ll both regret

But then again you push

Harder you twist the knife

I smoke as my blood rush

To spare the saddest day of your life!!

This is why I comply

To be the better one

The broken one

The one you refer to as a man

Yet insult his manhood while you can

Only to save you from suffering

And that you don’t even know

A dark beast inside I hide

The me that I’ll never show!!

All disturbing thoughts, all anger, sadness and hate
I’ll leave them at the roads
On the roads
For the roads

Wow... If only I knew a man who could hold his anger in this way. Hell, I can't even hold my tongue when I'm angry. Granted I don't get angry as often as I used to but if someone's insulting me, all hell would break loose. I noticed something though. It seems like you are fighting the urge to rhyme. lol ^_^

restraining anger is a remarkable feat...especially when it's this potent...anger is perhaps one of the most venomous and dangerous emotions...the one that can really flip the chariot over...amazing

Anger don't help no-one. When we say words in hate or disappointment. Leave only wounds and separation that is hard to repair. A powerful story in the poem. I believe best to stay silence when someone is twisted in anger and hate. Don't need two fool's yelling. A outstanding poem. I like the feel of conflict and thought in the poem.

"A dark beast inside" Hmmm sounds a lot like me! I love this poem and it's so true that people hurt the ones who can break them the hardest because they are suffering... Very good poem

I don't know what caused it for you, but for me, it was a woman. She told me she thought I'd be like her father, then tried to push me to it. I really get this poem. I mean, really get it. And I like it for that. The things we hold back; and should we show it, we wouldn't be men... We'd be cowards, as it should be. Very, very strong, and very well done.

Anger makes a man, but so do tears,
And wrinkles from smiling over the years,
And the very insecurity that makes men lash out,
Is also a part of their nature, no doubt.
For men and women are both made up of emotion,
And sometimes these feelings cause too much commotion.

Okay, I know your poem was more about a specific case, but the title got me thinking and the truth is that we are human and we are going to be angry sometimes. If your friend mistreats you, you have every right to be angry back and I don't think you need to abandon anger, sadness and hate, as your poem suggests, because they're natural. Never invalidate your emotions.

hard to bottle things up, but sometimes it is for the better. HOWEVER, sometimes you need to let a little out so the other knows and truly knows what they do to you. Nice write.
