A childhood memoryA Poem by M.KilaniI can still hear the air Drifting through the yellow leaves As I lay on the branch and stare As autumn awaits and the summer leaves Still I can smell the aromas of the jasmine tree The one we took off the ground Where we found a thousand bees And I still remember the sound The taste of the last peach that I do remember Sweetness of the whole summer, right under blue sky How hard was it to reach, to fall then to try A place to hide from the burning sun of summer I can still feel the dirt where I buried my first pet Along with childhood dreams Where my tears made streams Where the sparrow has died, and the balls were hit I can still see them, roses dry and pale Where I first smoked a cigarette I still can taste the first smoke to inhale Yet our voices I do forget. And now older this place has grown Our shadows grew as well Abandoned is my imaginary throne And the memory is a story to tell. © 2010 M.KilaniFeatured Review
