Better lifeless than dead

Better lifeless than dead

A Poem by M.Kilani

Better lifeless than dead

Come death lay beside me
Come death, come and tell me
Fear me not, I fear not thee

Speak for once dear old dead friend
Let us know if death is the end
Come and tell us, death, we beg you
Come and show us, are you a lie are you true

Are you redeemer, would you heal all
Or just another edge for our eternal fall

End of sadness, end of madness
Curse or bless

Silent death, defeater of worlds
I fear neither, death nor swords

Yet I seek only one answer
Of questions invading us, spreading like cancer

Is it better to live, breathe, weep, and cry
In a world for some hope is a lie

Are you final, the only one end
Would we scream even if dead

Death, stay, stay and plant fear in our hearts of coal
Death haunt us , to be afraid , to be just , and to be whole

Death, the freedom of soul
Where body is a wall
Why do we wish for your company?
Aren’t we afraid of our blasphemy?

Brutal as that is our life
Brutal enough to use a knife

I lied my friend , thee I do fear
Else never I would be here

Lifeless we are , true my friend
Yet better lifeless than to be dead

Back to your place death, back to your throne
Humans we are, we fear the unknown

The secret of life remains unknown
Unknown remains the mystical death
Death is human's sunset, life is his dawn

I don't know. I been with many people who were dying. There was no rush to go to the next world. I hold on to the belief death may take us to a better place. I like the Native American belief to burn the body to allow it to get to the next place. Similar to India. Suicide is the easy way out. My brother committed suicide and didn't know he had a baby in belly of girlfriend. Girlfriend loss her mind. Baby raised in foster care. I met her for the first time when she was twenty. Death will come. A wise man get up from sadness and reaches out for love and hope.

the line, better lifeless than dead... not sure if i agree with you there, both are a waste, i guess its just a matter of degrees. heres my poem on death (or its other mask - sleep)

Sleep,
Perchance to Dream

Hail, Sleep, soother, and well of soul-ease,
For you are just those.
Though you wear many masks,
I know you for what you are.
You nourish the mind and soul,
Replenishing what may have been lost, awake.
You recall our achievements,
And remind us of what we have forgotten.

Hail, Sleep, nourisher, and guardian of hope.
Some fear you. Not I.
They see your mask and know not what it hides.
They fear the lack of knowledge, only to be gained through you.
Some bring with them terrible nightmares:
Ghouls and wraiths, and spirits of unforgotten events.
These feed upon your gifts as the parasite clings to the host.
But these beasts are brought to, not part of you.
If they but bear none, none shall appear.

Hail, Sleep, friend and gateway.
In your many guises, you come to us all,
And give the needed rest.
When you come my way, I will not run,
For I know you well, and fear you none.

Haha I have an unpublished poem called "Noise of the undead" I'll publish it well start working on it than publish it if you ever want to read it. This is wonderful and just beautiful. Though you may want to make the words bigger they're a little small. Either way I like this poem and it's true I guess better lifeless than dead :D
