RepentA Poem by M.Kilani
To what end
To what new beginning First time to regret And I still can't forget What if I'm wrong What more can I change What if there's more Under the tongue No words and no signs Silence, smoke and sighs Troubled weary mind Regret I can't hide But again, to what end Tears to descend A frown on the mouth For the lack of sweetest warmth More sadness Less madness Like a one-legged man trying to run A prisoner awaits to see the sun And again, no word, no sign A memory of mystique heated wine And the last of her scent And a wish to repent The moon can't tell how much I yearn The flame still burns, awaits your return Even the ice in my drink It spells your name
