"Two for Flinching"A Poem by Melissa RidgeWhen you are subject to scrutiny, And all eyes are on you Like metallic snouts, waiting,
When pictures singe, And memories burn; Thoughts become forbidden,
When truth is revealed, And lies become your comforter; You don’t want to know the difference,
When the door slams in your face; You’ve overstayed your welcome once more And get pushed away,
When all the lights go out, And you’re left standing there, With no one for guidance,
When you fall in love, Drifting into the unknown, In a boat without a paddle,
Every time your heart breaks, Your chests aches And you’re standing face to face Don’t flinch. © 2013 Melissa RidgeFeatured Review
