Have Faith In Me

Have Faith In Me

A Poem by Melissa Ridge

The knife cuts deep,
A tear swims in the bleeding eye,
A promise broken, never intended to keep,
Angry, watching you cry.

Ironic how we promised to smile forever,
And so the following day we weep in solitude,
She trusted her to respect her interests, she was too clever,
The actions towards you were crude.

Hate me, hate you, hate all,
The knife goes deep into your eye,
You suspect her to smirk as the crimson tears fall,
But she takes the knife and blames the lie.

The night was alive with dancing lights,
But one mere look was all it took,
from the smiling doll.

She holds you to her
and whispers sickly sweet words
that sound true in her wishing voice.

You believe the words as she dries the tears that stain you,
The lie of it was all you,
You gave her a choice,
Backtracking through memories, she sees through the veil as you see through hers.

Liar! Liar! Betrayed! Betrayed!
The knife is thrust into the mouth that drips sweet venom and screams in agony,
Hurray! IT-the snake, has been slashed, beaten, slayed,
Drained, the wide eyed beauty, the doll, stained with mistrust and a night of sweeping eyes in ending to their story.©
