Bitten haze

Bitten haze

A Chapter by Kiari Sabon

The flash of your eyes. The growl of fear and pain in your throat. These things drawl me to you. I try to calm you. You shudder and shake. I reach to pet you. To stroke your brown and black fur. To calm you. In return you snap my hand as it’s an inch or so from your side. I pull my hand back. I start to feel warm blood trickle out of teeth mark wounds.it sting with pain and burns like fire. The scent of my blood flows to you. Your nostrils flare. Your eyes widen your ears lay flat. I fear you now, the tides have turned. I move back a step or two. I fall to the ground. You’re over me now. We are both in the light now. I had not seen your human like shape before only that of a dog.

I try to push you off. You grab my hands with yours. I scream in pain. Your claws had dug into my wrists. I see your eyes, was that.. is that a flash of sorrow in your eyes?  You bring my bitten hand to your mouth then you start to lap up the leaking blood. I bite my lip to keep from screaming in pain from the touch of your tongue over my fresh wound. A tear escapes my eye. You move my left and bitten hand to your other hand. You make sure you have a good grip on both my hands before you reach down and wipe away my tears with your free hand I shudder under your touch, from fear and because I do not understand what you are doing.

You move my left hand back to your free hand, then move my hand where I can see my wound… there is no wound only blood. You move the blood away with one swipe of your thumb. There is a mark on my bitten hand, but not one of your teeth. It’s a moon. A crescent moon turned halfway of a water moon. You lighten your grip on my hand, then you let go of my hand and trace the crescent moon on my skin. It warms under your touch. Then you move your hand over mine, your palm brushing mine. The warmth spreads up my hand and around my wrist and a few inches up my arm. The warmth doesn’t hurt its more peaceful than anything. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t fighting to get away… I guess I felt safe…

You moved my hand for me to see again. There where black and green curves around a full moon gray clouds and stars around my wrist and farther up my arm a water reflection of all above. It was beautiful, but what was it? a tattoo? If so how? You hold my wrist again but softly this time. You bow your head slightly then you start to stand up pulling me with you. When we stand I am shocked that you are up like a human. I look you up and down. I see you are more human than beast. You’re taller than me by a good foot. Your strong gray blue eyes are on me, locking with my own blue green eyes. I feel as though you are looking into my very soul. This sends a fear through me. I try to back away but I had forgotten you were holding my wrists. You pull me back and hold up my marked hand. Then I hear two things at once, one is within my mind and one is out loud. The one in my mind is soft and kind, the one out loud is strong and ruff. They speak in harmony, “This mark makes us as one. You are mine and I am yours.”

You wrap your left arm around my waist and pull me to you putting my hand on your chest and you cup my face with your right hand. “Sleep now. Sleep you have a lot to think about, sleep little one, sleep.,” you say. I feel dizzy and weak, my vision fades and I fall against you.
