Searching for Her LoveA Poem by KiaThe ballad of a young woman yearning to get her lover back after he left during a cruel blizzardOn a cold and harsh winter night When nature had no peace Lived a kind and handsome young couple Their struggles did not cease But although not rich with money This couple had great wealth For they had the least of dollars But their love was strong with health Still, on this day they were desperate And the young man needed a career But his princess cried, “No…I will go. Please! Oh, please stay here!” But the young man promised to return for her His eyes telling no lie And so he stumbled down to the door And with this he waved, “Good-bye.” Every night the girl would wait She longed to hold her prince He had left with a good-bye hug And she hadn’t seen him since Tim e went by and the months did pass Along with them the seasons of… Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall Yet still no sign of her love And each night the young woman cried Sleepless in her own tears Yearning for her lovers voice To whisper, once again, in her ears So on another harsh winter night When her heart severely hurt Wearing nothing but a shirt The wind did not show mercy And the snow plunged from above Still the girl continued on her journey Searching for her love She searched the hills and woods The weather getting more tense Yet she found…not even a sign Of her cherished and loving prince But then she grew very weary Her body weak and ill So she curled up beneath the smallest tree Ever silent…ever still And from above came an angel Brilliant and safe from natures harms He lifted the girl up And held her in his arms He caressed her gentle skin And kissed her frozen, sallow cheek Then she opened up her eyes But, oh, she did not speak She looked at him and smiled The most joyous of all grins Despair had left her forever And would never return again The angel flew her to the sky And blessed her with a kiss Then he whispered in her ear “I kept my promise.” © 2011 KiaAuthor's Note
