Chapter 10

Nicolas’ POV:

          I was lying in my dark cell when two of Durstan’s guards came in and dragged me from the cell and into a carriage waiting outside of the castle. It was the night for me to go in front of the council. Durstan was already with the council and as soon as I arrived I would be judged.

          When I arrived two men whom I suspected to be vampires took me out of the carriage and walked behind me as I walked to the room where the council members had convened together. We walked down a long dark hallway and as we got closer I could hear whispering and feel the different emotions of the council members.

          The double wooden doors were opened and I was led into the room into the middle of a circle that was drawn on the floor. Durstan was standing at the head of the table; sitting on the far left was Falidar who was a vampire, along with Graven seated right next to Durstan; Caleb, who was a werewolf, and the two demons Xavier and Diego. The table was long as it was wide and the members sat there as Durstan addressed me.

          “Nicolas Morelli you are charged with aiding and helping two prisoners in my castle, we the council will now hear your plea to remain a vampire.” He then sat down and the council was dead silent as I stood there watching their eyes bore into mine.

          “I will plead guilty to helping Rose and Sevana escape from the castle. I will also say you may do what you wish is necessary with me, I accept my consequences and my punishment for them.” I stood there trying to hide the fear I felt.

          “Very well.” said Falidar, “we will make our decision and bring you back in when it is final.” The two men came back in to lead me out the door into the hallway while the council made their decision. After a few moments I was sent back in and this time Xavier addressed me, “Nicolas we have come to a split decision, three of our members want you dead and three want your powers stripped and you to turn mortal. After some debate we have decided that since you have pleaded guilty that you are to be stripped of your powers and turned mortal.”

          “Very well.” I nodded. “We will now begin the ritual for your punishment.” said Xavier while the others nodded in agreement, “please step back into the circle Nicolas.” He then turned to Durstan who then began the ritual for removing my powers. He started talking in the ancient vampric language as he did so the other council members were also pushing their powers onto Durstan so he could extract my powers.

          The room grew darker than it had been before and then a light emitted from Durstan’s hands and ran right through my body. I screamed in agony as I dropped to my knees, then I slowly felt weak and fell to the floor. The light was gone and the room grew back to its normal darkness. “Nicolas Morelli your punishment has been carried out you are now mortal and will now be exiled from the vampire realm and everything that you have ever known, you will be known as Nicolas the human and have no ties to the vampire world anymore.” Durstan then motioned for the guards to remove me from the room.

          I was carried outside to the edge of the woods and left there to die. I was so weak and could barely hold myself up. I had forgotten how hard human life was and how fragile it is. I needed to find shelter and fast; I was still in the vampire realm and needed to find the way out before I was killed.

Sevana’s POV:

          After the incident in the woods we were finally getting farther away from where Durstan was and hid our scents as best as we could to make Durstan search for days or weeks before he even got close enough to get me back. We were headed to Germany; there was a coven there that Jacy told me were always accepting vampires who had nowhere else to go.

          It would take several days to travel to Germany but it was worth it to be able to be free from Durstan and his evil plans. “How long do you plan on protecting me Jacy?” I asked after several hours of traveling. “As long as you need it or till you find your soul mate.” “Well you are going to be around for a long time then.” He chuckled a bit and we continued in silence for a while till we reached our stopping point for the night. We were almost there, when Adolph suddenly growled. “You and Contessa stay here, Maddox watch the girls.” Jacy said as he and Adolph took off into their wolf forms into the woods. “Maddox what’s going on?” “I’m not sure…all I heard Jacy say to me was ‘danger.’ I’m sure they will be fine, it might just be another werewolf or vampire.”

          After a few moments they returned in their human forms, “What happened?” asked Contessa. “Vampires were following our scents but they are not working for Durstan and said they would let us be.” Jacy took the lead in front of me and Contessa again while Adolph and Maddox walked behind us. In the middle of walking I had a vision and fell to the ground. Jacy grabbed me before I hit my head, “Sevana what are you seeing?” I couldn’t answer yet, this time my vision was jumbled. It had never been like this before. I saw Durstan, then my parents, and then blood. Lots of blood and then I saw Graven’s red eyes and that was it.

          My vision came back suddenly and I saw Jacy’s brown eyes looking into mine. “Are you okay? What did you see?” He asked with concern in his voice. “I’m not sure it was confusing. I saw Durstan, my parents, lots of blood and Graven’s red eyes. Then it was over.” “Do you always have vision like that?” asked Adolph. “No never. They usually are very clear and I can make out what’s going on or what’s going to happen.”

          “Well we need to only go a few more miles and then we can stop for the night and you can rest.” said Jacy as he picked me up. “I can walk, put me down please.” I said as he set my feet back down on the ground. I steadied myself and was fine to make it to where we would stop for the night.

Her memory is coming back hurray!!
I love this book its way better than twilight wich I still like but kinda find it anoying how everyone thinks that those are the reason that vampires and werewolves exist.
Sorry about that just got lost in thought.
I love the book and will keep reading.
