Chapter 7A Chapter by ~RoyalVampire~I remember the conversation I had had with Austin about Harvard. He wanted us to be together forever, so he decided to ask some of our teachers to right amazing recommendations about me and Austin. I was shocked at some of the nice things our teachers had to say about us. He had mailed in and his application to the school the same day I had done mine. We both waited anxiously for weeks; when his acceptance letter finally arrived we were thrilled. Mine still not had come back yet, but Austin was sure I would get it and that it could take time. I wanted to believe him, but by the time we graduated and got engaged…I could care less about going to Harvard. I wanted to live my life with Austin and be happy. You never know when plans are about to change in you life and for once I wish they hadn’t. Not having Austin here kills me, but being accepted into Harvard, kills me even more than Austin’s death. Of course, my parents want me to go and get a college education. But Harvard? How can I go to a school where me and Austin were planning to go? I mean I could just stay here and go to a community college. Cheaper money, live at home, and still be with my friends. It all works better to stay here and not go all the way to Harvard. Then again, plans would change and I had to change with them in order to keep my head above water. 6 months later… “Come on Evie!” yelled Paul up the stairs as I grabbed my last suitcase from my room. I got to the first step and Paul was already grabbing it from me, “Here I got it. Go tell you parent’s bye.” He headed down the stairs and out to the car. I slowly walked into the kitchen where my parents were quietly waiting for me. “Aw, honey we are going to miss you so much.” My mother had tears in her eyes as she reached out to hug me. “Make sure you call us when you get there and get settled.” My father stood up and also gave me a hug when my mother released me. “I love you guys.” I said trying to hold back the tears that were starting to build up in my eyes. “You be careful and call me as often as you want, alright?” My mom was moving my hair of my face as she talked. “I will mom, don’t worry.” “The car is packed and we are ready to go!” Paul stated as he walked into the kitchen. “Okay….well I guess that’s my cue.” I turned towards the door to see my parents faces one last time and then closed the door behind me. I got into the car and before we left the driveway, tears were streaming down my face. “Hey, are you going to be alright Evie?” asked Paul as he grabbed my hand. “Yes, let’s just get over to Grace’s so I can drop you off and say goodbye.” We arrived at Grace’s about 20 minutes later, and she was already on her front lawn as we drove up. As soon as I got out of the car, she already had me in a huge hug. I had to laugh, but then I started to cry again. “I’m going to miss you so much Evie. You have to call me when you can, and tell me all about it there.” “I will Grace, I can promise you that.” She finally let go and I walked over to the driver’s side door and Paul wrapped me in a warm hug. “You be careful now. Don’t let any guys take advantage of you and if they do and you need someone. Call me anytime. I will come down there personally and kick some guy’s a*s.” I smiled at the thought. “Thank you Paul, you have been a great friend to me and I bet Austin would be very thankful to you for taking care of me.” He let go and I climbed into the car. He shut the door and I rolled my window down, “I love ya’ll and I will miss ya’ll horribly.” I waved as I back out and took off down the street, tears running down my face. When I finally reached the campus of Harvard I was in awe. The trees were starting to change colors and the buildings looked old, but rustic. College students were enjoying themselves on the grass underneath the trees, on the benches, and walking around the campus chatting to each other. I wish Austin could have seen this place; it was so wonderful and big. I finally parked my car which looked to be by the dorms and found where I needed to check in. I walked up to the desk, “Hi there, welcome to Harvard. Name?” “Evelyn Cook.” “Alright give me one moment.” She got up and walked over to a filing cabinet, pulled out the first drawer and pulled out a file and walked back over to me. “Did you just arrive Miss Cook?” “Yes.” “Alright I will need you to sign here, and here are your keys to your dorm and your mailbox.” She handed me two silver keys and I put them in my jean pocket. “Alright, you will be in dorm 6, room 217 and if you need further assistance there is a leader of the dorms when you first walk in.” “Thank you.” “You’re welcome, and welcome to Harvard.” She smiled at me as I walked outside and over to find my dorm and room. I finally found dorm 6 and walked inside. It was amazing, big and spacious and they had a little lobby in the front with red couches and a huge big screen TV and different little comfy chairs all positioned to see the TV. I was carrying a bag, my purse and my key. I noticed a door that said, “Stacey Fines” on it and thought maybe she was the leader of the dorm so I knocked. The door slowly opened and a girl with blonde medium length hair and green eyes stood there, “May I help you?” she asked still sounded a bit groggy. “Um, yes my name is Evelyn Cook and I….” before I could finish she perked up and fully opened the door so she could come out and talk to me. “Yes, Evelyn. I’m so sorry I got in late last night. My name is Stacey, and I am the leader of this dorm. If you have any problems or concerns or just want to chat you are more than welcomed to knock on my door at any time.” “Well, thank you.” “What room are you in?” she asked happily. “Room 217.” “Great room, you will have two other roommates, but don’t worry our rooms here are made for 4 roommates so you will have plenty of room. Follow me and I will show you where it is.” We walked down a hallway and up a flight of stairs to another hallway; my room was the 2nd on the left. “Here we are, your roommates are Isabella and Rose. They are usually up by now, but let we check.” She opened the door slowly and a light was on and music was playing in the background. “Oh, hey Stacey!” one of the girls said. “Hey girls, you have a new roommate, Rose and Isabella this is Evelyn Cook.” I nodded at them; they were so pretty how was I going to compete with this. “Nice to you meet you.” They said at the same time. “Well I will let you girls help her get settled and Evelyn if you need me I’m right downstairs.” “Thank you.” I said as she walked out of the room. “So where are you from?” asked Rose. “California.” “Wow! I’m from Texas and Isabella here is from North Carolina.” "Well, it’s nice to meet both of you." I looked around the room, it was purple and pink with gorgeous curtains and the bedding was also amazing. "This is your bed." said Isabella pointing to a bottom bunk. "We already decorated, hope you don’t mind the colors?" asked Rose. "No, no. It's perfect, great choices." "Do you need help with your bags?" asked Isabella. "Uh...sure." On our way down to the car I was thinking, these girls are going to become some of my good friends....I hope.
