Chapter 3A Chapter by ~RoyalVampire~“What do you mean by, ‘be careful who you can trust?’” I asked Contessa after we came in from almost a whole day of practicing my powers. “I’m not sure you are ready to hear that story, my dear.” Contessa walked into her bedroom and grabbed a big leather bound book, “But if you must know, read this.” She threw the book at me as I caught it and turned it over in bold gold letters it said The Evil World of Vampires. I opened the cover and skimmed through the pages, I saw pictures of bloody wars, vampires eating humans, vampires and lycans (werewolves) fighting one another, and more bloody images that I couldn’t bare to look at. “Who are these two vampires?” I said pointing to a picture of two royally dressed vampires with swords in their hands. “Their names are Durstan and Graven.” Contessa voice grew weak and strained, like she knew them personally. I would have asked if she knew them, but then I looked down at the picture of Graven and I felt like I knew him from somewhere. Every time I would try to think back before I was a vampire…still hating that fact…my head felt like it was burning. “Sevana, dear are you alright?” Contessa was eye level with me. I must have been staring off into space. “Yeah, I’m fine. I just recognize this one.” I said pointing to the vampire on the left. “That one is Graven; you don’t want to mess with him. He is the right hand man of Durstan.” I looked up at her and looked into her green eyes studying them closely. “Did you know these vampires?” I asked looking back down at the picture. “Yes, I knew these vampires. They are evil, Sevana, they will do anything in their power to get you to join them. Stay as far away from them as possible.” She walked into another room before I could ask her anything else. “Graven, she is learning her powers fast. Take three other men with you and find her. When you do this, bring her to me…alive.” Durstan turned and faced Graven, his eyes glowing. “Yes, my lord.” said Graven as he bowed and left the room. Durstan laughed and walked over to a book and opened it up to the middle, where a picture of Sevana and her family was. He touched the face of Sevana with the tip of his finger, “Soon my love we will be united and you shall be my queen.” A sinister smile crossed his lips. “Contessa I am going to go for a walk I will be back soon.” I yelled into her bedroom. “Alright, be safe my dear.” I walked out the door and closed it behind me; it was night time so I didn’t have to worry about the sun making me weak. I concentrated hard on the noises I heard to be able to sense when someone was near me, but the only thing I heard were animals scampering about. I smiled I’m just being paranoid, I told myself. I decided to walk the perimeter of the land we were on. As I walked I thought of what I was going to do to gain back my knowledge of the family that I lost. I need to find someone who knew my parents personally, then maybe it will jog back memories that I have forgotten. As I was losing myself in my thought I heard a noise. I turned quickly to see what it was and standing there was a tall man with bright red eyes, the eyes I have seen so many times in my dreams and memories. “Who are you?” I asked trying not to sound scared. “My dear, it hurts me that you don’t remember an old friend.” He took a step closer to me and took his hood down from over his face and smiled. I stared at him trying to recognize the face, but nothing came to me. “How rude of me…let me introduce myself, the name is Graven.” He bowed and then returned to his tall stance in front of me. “What do you want?” my voice was shaky. “My dear, Sevana I would like to help you regain your memories is all.” He smiled again as he took another step and we were now about 2 feet apart. “How can you do that?” I asked knowing I should be running by now, but couldn’t get my feet to move. “My Lord, he wishes to seek your presence to help you. He knew your parents personally. He has sent me here to speak on his behalf.” He took my hand and kissed it. I pulled my hand instantly from his and then it hit me who he was. “What is your Lord’s name?” I asked already knowing the answer. “My apologies, Lord Durstan Dougalass.” I gasped in horror, “No! I know who are. You can tell your master Durstan that I have nothing to do with him.” “We are not here to harm you my dear. He only wishes to talk with you.” “I’m not going anywhere with you, tell your Lord if he wishes to talk to me he can come here.” I said as I turned to walk away but Graven grabbed my wrist and pulled me so I was inches from his face. “You have made a grave mistake, my dear.” Then he was gone. I was rubbing my wrist as I decided to walk back to the house, but I wasn’t going to tell Contessa she would never let me walk by myself in the woods again.
