Chapter 2

We arrived upon a clearing where a little brick house stood with a flower garden out front. She opened the door and motioned for me walk in, she followed behind me and closed the door quietly. “Make yourself at home; you will be here for a while, Sevana.” Her voice sounded serious now. I looked at her with fear in my eyes, wondering how she knew my name. “Its alright, dear you will be safe here. I knew your parents, Henry and Elizabeth.” “You knew my parents?” my voice sounded strange to me, but I wanted to keep going and know who this woman was. “They were wonderful, gracious people, when I heard that were killed and you went missing….everyone thought you were dead.” Tears started to form in her eyes. “My…parents…are….dead?!” I could barely get the last word out. “You don’t remember…do you?” Her eyes were big and then another expression went across her face at the same time. I decided that I would speak this time, “No I don’t, can you please tell me what happened?” She focused back on me, “In time, dear, but right now you need to rest. You have much to learn about your new life.” I looked at her thinking of what else I could say to learn more, “May I at least know your name?” “Contessa Michelle La’ruse.” I recognized that name, “Your name sounds noble, are you of noble blood?”

Contessa studied me for a moment before she answered, “Yes, my parents were part of the royal council. My father was the head of the councilmen and your father’s right hand man. When they found out that I had been changed into a vampire they were killed days later.” “Do you know who changed you?” “I have been tracking down some leads, but no luck yet. I have only been looking for about a century, since it took a while to understand what I am exactly and how to use and control my powers.” “So we are really….” I struggled to say the word, “vampires?” my voice was shaky. Contessa nodded her head her face smooth and serious. Just then memories came flooding back to me like water was being filled into an empty container. I suddenly remembered my parents’ murders and a black figure standing over them and laughing. Suddenly I saw that same figure but he wasn’t where I remember seeing him and his back was to me as he was talking to someone I couldn’t see, then I blinked my eyes and I saw a confused Contessa standing in front of me.

“Sevana....did you just have a vision?” “I…don’t…think so. I remember my parent’s murders and then I saw the man that killed them, but he was somewhere other than I remember him being.” “You have a very rare and special power, my dear.” “What do you mean?” I was starting to get concerned about what was happening to me. “I learned from my experiences with vampires that whatever special ability they had in their human life, it carried over to their vampire life…but stronger and more powerful than in their human life.” She looked at me for a moment and spoke again, “Did you have a keen sense of knowing when something would happen before it did?” I looked at her confused by her question but answered anyways, “Only a few times…..I wish I had so my parents would still be alive and I wasn’t a…va…in this position.” “Sevana, you don’t understand. Your family was killed by ancient vampires, even if you had your visions you would not have seen anything till they entered the building.”

“Why didn’t they kill me?” “That will have to be a question you ask whoever changed you, I am here to help you learn how to control your powers and cravings. The powers you possess are hard to control, but you will learn, my dear.” She tried to smile at me. “What powers do I possess?” “Well, like most vampires; speed, super strength, super healing except in sun, and as for your powers; visions and controlling the elements around you.” “Controlling elements?” “Yes, you can control the four elements…earth, wind, water, and fire. But these powers get stronger with time so it will be a while before you will have full control over them. Your visions you will never be able to fully control and they will help you to see when any of your loved ones or anyone close to you to stay out of danger or be prepared for danger…” She paused and then her domineer changed and she smiled at me, “Are you ready to learn what you can do?” I looked at her and knew she was anxious to show me. “Yes.”

Meanwhile back inside a dark, damp, castle…there were two men in dark cloaks talking to one another as candles burned around them. “Master…I could not find the girl in the castle. Do you want me and my men to look for her and bring her to you?” Then a tall, lean man with molten golden eyes, waist length black hair, blacker than the void of death, and flowing with pure essence of darkness turned to face the man with bright red eyes. “Graven my friend, the girl is to be left alone so she can learn her powers. Once she does this then we will seek her out.” “Yes my lord, Durstan.” Then Graven bowed, turned and walked through the wooden double doors held by guards. As the doors closed Durstan sat down in his chair and rubbed his temples.

“Wow! I had no idea I could do that!” Sevana said her voice heavy from just using her element powers. “I can’t believe how well you grasped the concept of concentrating and using your mind to control your powers.” Contessa sounded impressed but also worried at the same time. I caught the concern in her voice, “But…” I said. Contessa turned to look at me and looked right into my eyes. “But, you need to be careful with how much power you actually have Sevana. I am glad that you are learning to use them, but you have to understand there are other vampires and creatures that will want you to give them your powers or use you for evil. You must be careful who you trust. I…” She trailed off and turned her head away from me, her green eyes sad. I would have asked what she meant, but I could see that she was hurting and didn’t want to bring back bad memories for her.

Wow awsome chapeter but elimental powers are kinda far out for vampires, I like it though you added to the vampiric legacy. Awsome idea.
