To the Poem Never Read

To the Poem Never Read

A Poem by Ian
"

To the poet and to the poem.

"
To the army with no supies.
To the fortress never breached.
To the sunlight beyond the hillside.
To the hillside never reached.
To the sky, always dark.
To the stars, never shown.
To the stillness of the night.
To the moon, all alone.
To the lonely boy in the street.
To the lamplight's glow.
To the chill dark December.
To the harsh winds that blow.
To the coffin made too early.
To the young widow's dread.
To the poet who never relized, and,
To the peom never read.
