Time UnpausedA Poem by KateH038
If I could pause the hands of time,
I'd mend the past, restore its rhyme. I’d wipe away tears, unsay the pain, elude the storm clouds, escape the rain. I’d take back harsh words I let fly free, rewrite my own narrative, change parts of the old me. Hold tightly to love I let slip through, cherish every purpose in life, old and new. I’d reverse nights of cold regret while lying sleepless in bed, As well as moments I’ve lost, and all the things left unsaid. Turn back the clocks, regain my sight, Transform desolate dark to once again light. Time moves on, for no one it will wait, We’re afforded no second chance, no clean-slate. Here I stand, from lessons, I’ve yet to learn, With time still unpaused, as the pages will turn. I cannot change the past I lived before this present I’m in, but I can be the me I once knew from the peace therein. -KH © 2025 KateH038 |
