Dear Self

Dear Self

A Poem by KateH038

Dear self, I really wish I knew the way

To gather the pieces of you that went astray,

To cradle your hurt, make you feel whole,

To soothe the anguish within your soul.
Your pieces lie dormant where shadows weep,

A heavy heart sets in as your ache runs deep,
You reach, you tremble, but you somehow stay Peering at yourself in the reflection, you cannot look away.
The cracks cut sharp, the welp will sting,

As you pray somehow from the ruins, hope may spring.

Each fragment on pause, scars in due time will heal,

And then you can to slowly teach your hands to feel.
So I stand before me now, though I’m very unsure,

When I’ll again walk with me, to build, endure.
Dear self, one day we’ll find where we belong,
And together once again, we’ll learn to be strong
