She Walks On Glass

She Walks On Glass

A Poem by Meridian

She walks on glass,

she sleeps on thorns.

She swallows fire,

but not for long.

She pretends to be

untouched by tragedy,

although her life may be

the world's parody.

She cannot attempt

to simply disregard

the oppression above her.

Her heart breaks into chards.

She asks the world why.

She gets no reply.

She can only cry.

Kiss the world goodbye.

Sad but beautifully written..I love the flow and use of words, color to accent the last line...good job

The title caught my eye but your writing caught me more. There's a lot of pain painted by simple and vivid images of suffering. I feel the hurt in this beautiful piece. "she cannot attempt to simply disregard the oppression above her" the speaker is strong.. but not strong enough I guess. Good write .

So simple.... yet came to such depression. You truly captured a lot in a small amount of space. Not many can clearly put forth a story in such limitations. On this one, you could go both ways with the punctuation.... some places the period can be obsolete.

Well done.

Bless!
