“No!” Cecie said in an exasperated voice, she couldn’t put into words how much she didn’t want to do what Julian was asking. Travesty however was just looking at her in a reassuring manner before he spoke, “I know you think he’s a bad man, Cecie, but you have to trust me. Will you please release his chains?” The young woman shook her head viciously and took a step back, wanting to put as much distance as she could between herself and the man. Khance smiled at Julian, “You took her here to take off the chains?” Travesty smiled weakly, “I thought it would be a bonding experience... but I guess you’ve gotten more evil since we last met?” Khance laughed as pulled himself off the bars, standing to his full height. Winking at the young woman, the prisoner held his arms out and closed his eyes. “I will not!” Cecie said adamantly, knowing that he should remain a prisoner. Khance smirked as the first chain started to shake. The young woman stared at the inmate in absolute horror; he was taking the aura chains off by himself.

“He’s taking them off... by himself?” Cecie said in pure astonishment as she looked to Travesty for answers. Julian grinned, “Khance is far more powerful than this place gives him credit for. He stayed here for his own personal reasons. He could have broken out at any time.” The white mage gave him an incredulous look, “Impossible, white magic is unstoppable!” Julian quickly looked to Khance to see him raising an eyebrow at the comment. “I’m going to have to find out sooner or later what you can do... Cecie? Is it? I want you to try and stop me escaping, you can use all your powers!” Khance said with yet another cocky smirk. Instantly losing her hesitancy, Cecie flung her arms forward. Everyone in the cell block had to shield their eyes from the blinding white light... it was a light only a magic user could see. The jailor just looked sceptically at the young woman, wondering what the gestures were for.

“You think I was just sitting here all this time? Surrounded by dark mages and forbidden magic users?” Khance laughed as a green glow emanated from his palms. Twirling around, his hand sliced across a grey chain, cutting it instantly. Cecie focused her power on repairing that link and watched as it sprung back into place, stronger than before. “Travesty, you sure know how to pick them. She’s talented!” Khance said as he allowed the girl to add more and more chains. Travesty smiled weakly, remembering Khance enough to know what was about to happen. The prisoner turned to smile at Cecie, “If I can break your chains, can I have a kiss?”

A wave of white light pushed Khance against the back wall of his cell, causing him to groan in pain. The weight of the chains started to press down on his shoulders. He struggled to stand, eventually he was pulled to the ground. Travesty laughed at the display as he placed a proud hand on Cecie’s shoulder. Laughter echoed around the cells. The Jailor stood awkwardly, not knowing what to do, never in his lifetime had he been told to release a prisoner from these cells. That had always been taken care of by the high ranked mages. Cecie stared at the figure lying on the ground, pure venom in her eyes. Travesty chuckled, “I take it that she doesn’t want to kiss you.” Cecie noticed a flicker of light coming from within the cell, initially she thought that the dark aura changed, but it just appeared to be a wave of white encompassing the figure on the ground.

“That is... commendable power you have!” Khance said through gritted teeth, his smile fixed on his face. “But you never did answer... my question!” Cecie’s eyes widened, he shouldn’t be even able to move, but here he was talking. Khance calmly got to his feet amidst the white and grinned. Cecie stopped the wave and just stared at the man. “I suppose I should have let you in on a little secret...” Khance said amiably as he removed the remainder of the chains entwined around him. Travesty looked at Cecie and said simply, “His mother was a white mage. He’s developed a partial immunity to all white magic, that’s why he finds it difficult to be healed.”

Khance looked sharply at Travesty, “Is there anything else you would like to tell all the murderers in here?” Julian grinned in return. Cecie was still confused, here was a former Sky Pirate... but how could he be a magic user? Why was he evil? Why did he willingly stay in prison?

The jailor opened the cell door and Khance calmly walked out and grasped Travesty’s hand. “So, how many dragons?” Cecie just stared at the two and especially at Travesty, “He’s...evil!” Julian frowned momentarily, it would be difficult if the crew hated each other. Khance looked at Cecie, tall for a girl, slender build, brown hair and piercing blue eyes. He gauged her to be nearing twenty. “Well, if she hates me now... I’ve no idea what she’s going to think of my task as a Sky Pirate.” Khance said with a faint smile. Travesty’s frown grew grimmer. Julian looked at the two for a moment before he spoke, “Cecie, meet me at the Courtyard at noon. We need our swordsman, the tournament should be starting in a while. I want you to be there with me.” Cecie didn’t break eye contact with the Prisoner. Khance looked at Travesty, “Can I enter?”

Julian smiled in return, “I was hoping you’d say that.”

Again..I must say that your charcter is very intriguing!! He's arrogant and funny...and I think that's what draws me to him so much. And I love it how he CHOSE to stay in prison...it gets me thinking. Haha and as for Cecie, I bet if she were stronger she could have totally won. She really doesn't like Khance, and that scene was very well done. :]

Amazing job!! Now all I have to do is wait for the next chapter! :p Haha
